I pretty much worship David Mamet, but he is a playwright in his heart. When he moves to other media, and is allowed to work unrestrained, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've also read his novels, with similarly mixed results.
Haha - that is good. I too am a Mamet fan. I actually wanted to go see Heist in the theater, but didn't get around to it. Man, am I glad I saved my money.
His wife is a helluva singer and their songwriting collaborations aren't bad. (I was actually a fan of Rebecca Pigeon before I knew they were married - her album The Raven is among my favorites.)
And the plot ain't too hot, either.
