Oh, yah. The old Wilkins/Wontkins characters were vicious! When I worked the Henson exhibit at the museum, they had tons of clips and storyboards featuring violent things they would do. Because of this, though, Jim Henson made his name.
Gosh, I guess that was in the 60s? I think they were based in the South, mostly, since Henson was from Mississippi and did some work with local stations. I know he did a series of commercials for Community Coffee, which is a Louisiana brand, and some of the people who came through the exhibit said they remembered seeing the ads.
