I think I need to have Tumblrexplained to me. I check my friendz tumblrs but they just seem like ersonal websites more prone to incestuous reposts. Am I wrong? Should I join ANOTHER website to dilute my 'product'?
I was going to add, I like tumblr as well. Twitter and tumblr, those are the good ones. It IS hard to explain, though, unless you're in it...and even then, it doesn't always make sense.
I don't know if there is anything that needs to be explained really. It is a really easy way to blog. I am sick of having to upgrade Wordpress. Plus, some of my oldskool friends use it, so I can easily keep up with what they post in an environment that is simpler and prettier and slightly more personal than Google reader.
OK, well I still don't get how tumblr is better than say a livejournal or a blogspot. I guess it has to do with the interface which I haven't yet seen. Are friendslists easy? I assume so since you said it's prettier than googlereader....
You can follow people within tumblr really easily, so it's like a friendslist...and it makes it this much more social community. That's the part that's hard to describe - because you can build weird relationships with people based on how much they like your posts.
I think it has something to do with bite-sized-ness, and the active-ness of the peoples.
Eventually, I may have to start filtering updates from some of the people I follow, but for now it's all totally manageable.
Old favorites were Flickr and Consumating. Maybe Facebook for a small time, but that shit is way too crapladen these days.
I'm Pretty sure Myspace was always a chore. This site has it's moments but it's usually too slow or too full of junk (no affense to garbage fans).
I know exactly what you mean, there is always SOMETHING happening, but it isn't overwhelming.
I have been really enjoying Tumblr lately. It reminds me of the old days of personal websites.

I use it for my blog sometimes - in order to keep readers updated.
