You are Queen awesome.

Hot Rod took mine.

I like karaoke.

@Dynamic Hot Rod: Wow! How did that happen?? I don't remember even applying for the position!

@-j.: What an odd coincidence! :D

@Jay Def: I do too! Have you heard of this machine that let's you download music & adjust the volumes of the different parts (kind of like a mini sound mixer) so that you can sing along with pretty much ANY song?!

It's a couple hundred bucks at Frye's and my neighbors and I are thinking of buying one together to have house karaoke parties!

What are your favorite songs to do karaoke? Have you done any outside your comfort zone lately?

That does sound aweesome! I would love to karaoke Gay Bar by Electric Six (Awesome song, awesome group) but they don't make that for karaoke, so having a machine that lets me set it up myself would be awesome. Have you tried it it? Does it work well?

Hmmm...my favorite karaoke songs. I love doing You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive, as well as Master & Servant by Depeche Mode. Last night, I went to karaoke with some friends, and I tried I Hate to Say I Told You So by the Hives, which was fun, but I didn't know it that well yet. I love to try new songs, but I always get a little nervous when I do and think about changing songs. :)

I'm doing my first on-call shift this week. So far the pager hasn't gone off, but only because I caught a problem before it got serious. I'm rather proud of myself.

@Jay: I haven't tried it yet, but when I do I'll be sure to let you know!

I only know the first of the songs you mentioned... I usually stick to the same 2 or 3 songs, but I'm hoping to expand my list of go-to tracks this year if we do get that machine.

I like to do at-home karaoke with SingSnap(dotcom) but they only have a limited selection of free songs, which is why whenever I do a "post here & I'll sing you a song" thread I never finish because I can never find a karaoke version of the song. :[

@Centropomus: Does that mean you get to stay at home with the cat all day unless something comes up?!

@bizzy: I don't think it's a coincidence at all ;)

@bizzy: not everything is applied for, once in a while things are just thrust-ed upon you.

@Centropomus oh cool! My brother does some on call shifts for computer stuff, and I'm all "geeze bro, you're all fancy!"

@Hot Rod: Ah, ok! So that's how it works! Noted. :)

And thank you.

I am having a really hard time right now, especially right this minute. I don't want to talk about it but it is happening.

That's something, right?

My car needs a carwash something fierce

@The Ferguson *hearts and hugs*

i really wish that things with my ex would go back the way they were sometimes.

@Ferguson: what little p said. (About the hearts and hugs. I don't have a car. I hope you feel better, about everything <3)

@Ferg: Hugs from me too. You know where to find me when you need/want to talk about it. ♥

@libi: What were they like before, and how did things change?

@bizzy I only got to stay at home with Nia and Strangerbox on Monday, which was a company holiday. The other days I spent work hours at the office, and a considerable chunk of time at home on my computer as well, making sure our cache servers didn't melt during the Wikipedia blackout. Our pager requirements are so stringent that we have to coordinate our commutes with our backups to make sure only one of us is on the road at a time. On-call duty can be a bit grueling if there's a lot going on, but it only happens once a month for half a week, and we hand off to people in Europe for some of that time as well. We also get paid extra for it.

@bizzy we were together. ha.

our relationship has improved vastly in a lot of ways. but i wish that i still got to wake up next to him sometimes.

I don't know how to love.

Or feel.

Or turn water into coffee.

@Centro: At least you get to be home on holidays. I'm usually stuck here no matter what! Sounds like a fair arrangement for you though. And if the pay matches the effort of having to coordinate your commute, I'd say it's worth it.

@libi: Oh, I know the feeling. How long has it been since the breakup?

I hung out with my ex last night, and it seems we're both finding our comfort in the friendship. Like you said, it's improved in a lot of ways that it couldn't have while the relationship was going on, but I do find myself missing the more intimate moments like that. Luckily, I'm finding new ways to have that feeling of comfort on my own (and with Rebound Guy too, I guess).

I still don't know how or when to bring up the fact that I'm dating again to him. I don't think it's necessary to do unless the subject comes up organically in conversation, but for now I don't think it matters much. My ex & I had a good chat last night & I feel like talking about relationships this soon would just make moments like that less possible or potentially awkward. Know what I mean?

bizz: we were on a break and then it became not just a break. we never stopped hanging out and making art together though. we will probably be best of friends forever. it's mostly the waking up next to him that I miss. I have to call him to get him out of bed for our weekly breakfast now instead of tickling him.

and. we agreed to talk before starting to date anyone else. and to talk if it's getting serious- I trust his judgement so I reaally wouldn't want to date anyone he didn't approve of. and I feel like when it stops feeling awkward to tell him is when I'll actually be ready to date someone new.

What should go here?
