This happened to my uncle once. They gave him antibiotics.

guuuh. do you remember what it was like? sorry for the grossness.

i appear to have a lump under my skin right near by the injection site. and its painful.

jasasian and mizzchelle....where are youuuu?

My ex's mother had cancer but she did not die of cancer. She died of a staph infection she contracted because the IV was not properly cared for.

oh great, thanks : (

no...i'm sorry to hear that. i really don't know that that is what this could be. otherwise, it might just be a random cyst. ugggh...the fun never ends.

Well to be fair she was old and sick for a very long time, weak, and living in a hospital apparently cared for by incompentents. I think they sued them. You are young and strong and presumably don't have cancer. You could certainly get it checked out if you want, but you are probably not going to die of a staph infection.

If it was a vaccination, it's normal to get a bump that goes away in a few days. That's an IM though, not an IV.

it was an iv. i was injected with fluids due to dehydration.

i'm thinking its not a huge deal as long as this goes away. it only popped up a week after i left the hospital. so i've had the lump for like, 5 days. who knoooows.

You should probably get it checked out if you're worried.

@cat is a si tac That's not something that's supposed to lump. Get it checked out.

how big is the lump? could be scar tissue.

i would say maybe an inch in diameter.

i know i should get it checked out if it doesn't get better fairly soon...i just wanted to check if this sounded at all like a familiar issue for anyone else.

@cat is a si tac If it's at all red, it could be cellulitis due to staph, and you need to get on antibiotics pronto. You're unlikely to have severe complications from a staph infection that's quickly treated, but there are many drug-resistant strains of staph, so they sometimes have to try a few before they find the one that'll get rid of it.

If it's colorless and itchy, my money is on a spider bite.

it is red on the outside. not itchy, but is painful when i press on it.

What should go here?
