children

Crap. I was going to say children.

I'll be more specific and say little 6yr old girls. That have a meltdown in the middle of their riding lesson...

And batteries

I thought refrigerating normal batteries extended their life?

omg- I did too, and I had someone totally go off on me about the refrigerator ruining them, and then a second person told me that, so I assumed I was wrong.
I guess I should look it up...

camera film, is that kept fresher in the refrigerator?

yea. keep batteries out of the fridge

i HATE that refrigerator is not spelled refriDgerator

because of "fridge"

I HATE IT

oh, and yes for film. it slows the chemical reactions that are effectively fogging your pictures. you should let it come to room temperature before exposing it though and especially before developing. on the other side of this are those who go for that overexposed aesthetic, but I'd argue that you can achieve that with filters and processing in ways that are far more controlled and predictable than using stale film.

@om nom nom: that's precisely it though isn't it? apples and bananas.

so who are the photographers using traditional film? what are the things that you can only do using traditional film?
I am out of bananas.

what happens when you refrigerate apples? I don't buy apples except for immediate use, so I've never tried.

I actually prefer my apples refrigerated. and I basically only eat Fuji apples and granny smith. I like the taste of them cold, and they do stay crisp. The Fuji and granny smith don't seem to get mushy in the fridge.
so you really aren't supposed to keep them refrigerated?

@little_p most photographers are digital these days, you have more control and predictable results, so those that stay traditional have to accentuate the character of film such as grain or detail in very large format to differentiate. it's a sad downward spiral for analog.

sad

but not really

i can only eat cold apples

hey i like cold apples too

i took a bite out of one and waited on somebody else to take a bit ... you wanna ?

ooh look at you, offering the not-quite-retarded girl some half-eaten fruit!

@fern I AM NOT GOING TO LAUGH AT THAT B/C YOU ARE NOT RETARDED AT ALL.

but that was really funny. well done.

:D

i am the first to admit to being, you know, a little bit slow

Just make sure it isn't actually wax. Charlize Theron did that once or twice.

I refrigerate my pink ladys. My mother the hippy has made a practice of putting her apples in the fridge as well. If it does anything more than make them better and last for(almost)ever.

refrigerated apples get all mealy.

@om nom nom what does mealy mean?

(i remember finding what my mom called "mealy" bugs in an old container of quaker oats when I was like, 4)

it's a texture thing.
