How original do they have to be, and need they evoke anything specific?

Red doesn't work, and it's best if they tie in with your theme.

However my theme is fairly abstract (futurism, overcrowding, urbanism, robots) and I can't think of 8 good robot words for shades of pink.

I have so far two shades of beige "Telegraph" and "Smudged".
A gray "Concrete" (this is too obvious and needs to be changed).
Three pinks "Sodium glow" (it's a light orangey red, reminds me of solution flame tests), "Steampink" (hot hot fuscia), and one yet named.
and a black "Tunnel Depth".

I had a student that wore a Black Flag t-shirt the other day in class. I asked him, "Oh, you like the Flag, huh?"

Me: Black Flag.

Student: Oh yeah.

Me: What's your favorite album? (I was expecting Damaged; my favorite is My War or Slip It In).

I think that he was Greg Ginn's brother, but they started hating each other, because Pettibon didn't get paid. And then Husker Du were horrified when they saw his artwork which was used for one of the compilation albums that they were on.
