i can't believe you even tried it! that's so brave! and adventurous. i would just sit there and stare the whole time- it seems a bit confusing. how many people did you meet?

I think I met 15 or 16. The thing is, I barely remember anyone. They sort of all blended together. You got 3 minutes with each person. At the end of 3 minutes, I was usually just getting started!

I guess we'll see how it went when I get the last of matches.

as portrayed in movies in tv (particularly I'm thinking of "40 Year old Virgin"), how much does it compare?

was it fun? strange? was there a mix of people who've been through it before, and newbies, or were you one of few newbies?
how many people total went to it?

i ask so many questions because you're the first person i've ever known to do it

Hm. I don't remember the speed dating scene from "The 40 Year old Virgin", so I can't compare it to that.

It was kind of fun. I think it'd be more fun the second time around now that I know what to expect. Everyone I met said this was their first time speed dating. A few just seemed downright bored or uninterested. IIRC, these were the same ones who were basically pushed into it by their friends. A few were super bubbly and talkative. Most seemed to be like me: interested in the whole experience but overwhelmed

This particular speed dating thing was part of an event called Nerd Nite, so there was a preponderance of nerds and nerd-a-likes. I think I must have met at least three or four neuroscience Ph.Ds.

There were 20 some girls, I think, and a few more guys. 14-16 rounds, 3 minutes each.

UPDATE: I just got my matches. Three girls. I only remember two of them and third one just vaguely.

Not quite that bad, but a few conversations were basically non-starters. They just didn't seem to want to be there.

What should go here?
