I berated my mom via text for saying "Pls kick yourself for being late this morning" and I feel a bit guilty now. The stress and airport air is wearing on me. I just want to be home. Mope, whine, bitch.
No, I just never manage to get the standby seat. There must have been at least 6 or 7 people besides me who didn't make it to the original flight, so it's a matter of waiting out the following flights to see if any of them have a seat for me.
i once got stuck overnight on new year's day at las vegas airport. all hotels were completely booked, and i didn't know enough about my rights at the time to demand they find a way to put me up somewhere. so i spent the night sleeping on the floor being too cold and forced to listen to a constantly looping 45-minute album of xmas medleys.
I did not get a flight, so I will be returning in the early morning in hopes of getting on standby for the first flight to Houston. It was a hellish 12 hours at Lindbergh, though.
The next flight I was on standby for is advertising that they are "in a possible oversell situation." Awesome.
dude, free flight vouchers for everyone!
I'm not now, but I suspect I will be in about 27 hours.
Hope you're able to get aboard reasonably quick, Val.
Three overfull flights since I missed my original. Blerg. Teleportation, pls.

Ugh, so they keep kicking you off flights?

@le_sacre: UGH, that sounds horrible.
OH, I came home, by the way. I'm not sleeping in the airport when I have a warm bed relatively close.
Aw geez. Sorry to hear this. Hope you get something today.
I am unstuck from the airport and in Baton Rouge! THE JOY!
FINALLY.
Wait why are you in La Rouge? When are you coming back? Nobody tells me nothin!
Because I went home for Christmas...? I had to go home! But I am already back in California.
Oh. Well as long as you're back now. I was beginning to wonder why I felt like I was missing something.
How was your trip?
It was far too short and extremely busy, but it was excellent to be home for a while. I got to see friends I hadn't seen in a YEAR.
