Pitchfork released the first part of their TOP 50 ALBUMS OF 2011. ITT TWIGBY PREDICTS THE TOP 20.
http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/8727-the-top-50-albums-of-2011/
The rest of the internet is welcome to participate too, of course.
What should go here?
I AM WILLING TO SEND TWIGBY ONE AMERICAN DOLLAR FOR EACH ALBUM HE CORRECTLY PLACES ON THE TOP 20.
OH WOW
hmmmm welll... I'll need to ACTUALLY WORK ON THIS THEN
HEY INNERNET SHALL WE TAKE BETS ON HOW MANY HE GETS RIGHT?
Yes! Fun time!
(I feel I should clarify that by "correctly places" I mean in terms of placement on the list. So if he predicts blahblah album is number 2 on the list, and he is correct, HE GETS ONE AMERICAN DOLLAR.)
I WISH I HAD THOUGHT OF THIS THREAD LIKE WAY EARLIER TODAY BEFORE ALL THE INTERNET OLDS ARE ASLEEP SHEESH.
BAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH they'll see it tomorrow
This is tough. I'll be he good at guessing most of the albums in the top 20, but getting them in the right order? THAT'S A TALL ORDER.
I will mail him one thing for every song he gets right. I don't have any money, but I have some stuff- he can have one of my stuff for each song! I can't wait!
If Bon Iver is number one I'll bake everyone cookies. COOKIES FILLED WITH RAGE.
I'm going with this as my list

Ahhhhh I'm so excited to see what the list is. I work tomorrow though SOMEONE KEEP ME UPDATED DO YOU ALL HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER IT'S BEEN THE SAME FOR 10 YEARS
I like how I work for a tech company AND have the rare privilege of actually sitting at a computer by myself all day and yet I am too busy to finally join the bored at work generation, btw.
If SiriusXMU does a top 20 songs of 2011 btw I WILL PREDICT THE SHIT OUT OF IT
Really surprised El Camino or the new Roots album isn't on Twigby's prediction list.
pitchfork is all "eh" about the black keys in general
the roots could be there, i think being released so late could work against it though
aw man, the black keys were so cute on Colbert
Wow, TWIGBy, you did really well! I was just saying to Nikki that I'm actually pretty unimpressed with most of what passes for Pitchfork-approved these days. I think almost none of my favourite albums of the year were included, and a lot of snooze-worthy stuff was. Even the albums I really love that made it are still pretty flawed - like M83 or Bon Iver or whatever.
Also, Nikki sends her love to everyone!
HEY DAVE! HEY NIKKI!
Also yeah Pitchfork is pretty shit or maybe I'm getting old and don't get it anymore.
That said, I am happy Kaputt ended up at #2 because that was probably tied (with David Comes to Life) as my fave album of the year.
So what on this list is ACTUALLY worth me going to the trouble of trying? Bon Iver is right out. I have heard maaaaaaaybe 20% of these people.
We need a TWIGBy's year end list!
2011's been a weird year. There's been a lot of GOOD albums but almost none of them are what I consider "great" outside of Kaputt and David Comes to Life and even those are a bit of a stretch.
Wait so do I only owe $2?
Well if you want to take my special category into account it's 3 dollars :D
i actually came into this saying "bon iver is number one and fleet foxes is number fifteen, build the rest of the list around that!"
ahahahhahah a ok you get three American dollars
YOU DID A GREAT JOB THOUGH
I CAME CLOSE ON A LOT OF THEM!
alright- MESSAGE ME YOUR ADDRESS, I NEED TO MAIL YOU THREE OF MY STUFF
I personally can't wait to eat Erica's rage cookies.
Yeah yeah yeah RAGE COOKIES
And for the record, I don't hate Bon Iver, but that album is way too YAWN FEST to be number 1.
Anyway, anyone who wants cookies should come to my Mom's house in Minnesota tomorrow. Sometime in the late afternoon? COOKIES!
I dunno i have to stop reading pitchfork. they gave the new childish gambino album a ONE POINT SOMETHING. and the article was so biased i wanted to crap on my computer.
also they said El Camino was better than Brothers. Which is just wrong. WRONG.
If you were just not hip like us not hip people, you would have quit reading pitchfork 6 years ago because you just can't keep up with those music kids!
reading a pitchfork review these days is fucking excruciating. I fully admit to being a fan in the past as they had some really smart writers but now it seems like it's a generation of kids who grew up on pitchfork trying to outwit each other. Most of the reviews don't even talk about the music, they talk about the artist and their back ground and how they're looked at in the media and fucking bullshit like that (the childish gambino review is a good example) and they may drop the name of a track of two.
Here's a handy guide at how to read pitchfork reviews
step 1.) just look at the number
step 2.) If it's between 5.0 - 7.9 it usually means the album is good
if it's 8.0 - 10.00 it's either fucking amazing or the worst fucking shit you ever heard in your life.
I really wanted m83 to be number 2
To be honest though I DON'T KNOW HALF THE SHIT ON THIS LIST
Note me your address twigby
yeah i barely know anything on the pitch fork lists anymore other then the SUPER popular (relatively?) ones
it's a lot of weird ass techno shit I'm just not into like EMA and Atlas Sound, ugh
I don't dislike Atlas Sound, really, but Bradford Cox was on Sirius XMU for a full week recently and OH MY GOD THE AMOUNT OF CRAZY COMING OUT OF THAT GUY WAS AMAZING. LIKE, WHAT THE FUCK IS HE ON.
Jenny Eliscu is a glorious angel for putting up with him. I would have FLIPPED.
im still tired i might be dreaming ... cause i don't know how deeply to look into things
whats real from fake
if im being set up
im sure you know
how serious i should take shit
i have no idea how to act
but im thankful for whatever YA HEARD but i like playing games to an extent if its worthwhile and hopefuly has something beautiful at tha end
no you gotta take things slow with me cause i really don't know whats going on with you
plus i don't trust anyone
