We're using "San Francisco" in a broad northern Californian sense because we're FOREIGNERS. And the story is that we can't afford to fly direct to Canada and the connecting flights are at weird times to we were like "Maybe we should just stay in SF for a few days and hang out with GTI ppl". But it will be in mid-December so -j needs to change HIS plans.
