I thought that they overloaded it with slow songs.

Although it could've been intentional - one side was a bit more energetic and the other was more appropriate for slow dances and crying in your beer.

Kinda like "Dark Side Of The Moon", although Thom Yorke hates that comparison.

Perhaps they borrowed a page or two from bands like Portishead - not that they sounded much like one another, but aesthetically there was some connection, I think.

My feeling is that Hail to the Thief was a better album, myself.
