Even the fact that most of the people there were a) probably almost as old as my parents and b) wearing tiny leather shorts and harnesses was completely unperturbing.

Pft, nobody gets eaten alive unless they specifically ask to be.
Of course, if they do, the eating happens with some gusto.
I ascertained as much.
I tried it once and it was the same for me.
I guess that I was the biggest freak there, even without goth makeup and whatnot.
