There are certainly some solid 2D Metroid-style goodness, like the movement. But two things kill the game for me:
- Bad separation of foreground and background. I never know where I'm jumping. Plus some foreground crates and debris are "unimportant" and you can jump through them.
- Gunfire is TERRIBLE. It's impossible to aim. Metroid gave you only cardinal and diagonal directions, while Shadow Complex twitches all around.
I totally judged Trials HD by its cover. "It looks like Doomguy on a bike. Pass."
But now I see that people are comparing it to Motocross Maniacs for the Game Boy. Motocross Maniacs! I spent way too much time playing that when I was ten.

Get Trials HD instead Mike. Totally worth the $10.
