I think it doesn't mesh well.. I like the shiny of the skirt, but I don't think the jacket goes with it.. and the jacket is nice, but it doesn't mesh with the skirt... that's what I think.. but I'm fashion retarded... so am I wrong?

I think you got the first layer.

I think I'm also bothered by the proportions of everything. This is making a 5'8+ girl in 4" heels look short.

it looks like a future version of the outfits I see all the annoying girls wearing now. Skirt/tights/hoodie or jacket. Also, her head looks slighlty photoshopped.

See, I still see her legs as being really long... so I don't get the short thing...

slowpoke: her head does look photoshopped!

The collar on the jacket screws up the proportion, as you say. It makes the skirt seem silly.

and it seems pretty safe. like I can honestly see finding these pieces in stores right now.

safe=uninspiring

@slow-not photoshopped.

@aartaud- yeah I think that jacket requires a long bottom. Like pants of some crazy dojo ready skirt or something...

It looks like Star Wars Meets The Meatpacking District on a Friday night.

nothing wrong with that.

If done well, I couldn't agree more. Something about it isn't sitting well with me, though.

the sleeves seem slightly too long, and the neck makes her look like a turtle. The rest seems like it would be nice other than that.

hahahaha

technically the whole look is for winter.
but yes. you nailed it. It's that awkward, "I'm wearing this coat over my club clothes, but god dammit I promise I'm hot under all this!" ok I feel better now. thank you.

too cyborg

I freakin' love that coat. It is the future! I want it.

But I agree with the chunky, androgynous look of that coat doesn't contrast as well as it should with the svelt, feminine skirt and tights.

The textures of the fabrics don't go well together.
The color palette tones are ok, but the shades are off.
The black tights have a foreshortening effect, because the outfit itself isn't even one piece, so she's basically broken up in 3 parts.

If the dress was just that and then black tights, may have worked better, but would have needed more exciting shoes. Or, different color tights, and the jacket should have been shorter and more fitted. I like the pieces individually.

The jacket is too bulky compared to the rest of the outfit, I don't like the gloves with a short skirt and tights, The jacket's color is all wrong against black (usually), the skirt looks like it's just for a different era compared to the rest of the 'outfit'...

I could go on.

i love the pieces individually, but i'm with the idea that the top goes with a long skirk

but also, star-trek meets 1981 soho, that idea is so appealing to me

hmmmm. it's sooooo... almosty

It looks like hippie-nordic fleece/dr. evil jacket hybrid over 80s copper prom skirt. IMHO.

Also, her hair doubles the size of her forehead.

naw, it's not the proportions that are off, it's the tones. the grey's too cool for the warm bronze. think of it in tonal greys.

i'm not a huge fan of how the bottom of the jacket is cut against the cut of the skirt-- that jacket needs to flow into something, and that skirt ain't cutting it.

but i fucking LOVE that jacket. whose line is this from, sarah?

um it was a show on style.com.

it was an early show at fashion week, and now I can't find it.

What should go here?
