i guess phoenix and vampire weekend, then. or yeasayer, i've heard they're pretty awesome live too. but i'd totally like to see mgmt live to feel the hipster experience
I've seen Phoenix live a couple of times and they're brilliant. VW might be a bit of fun, even if they're not totally my thing. LCD Soundsystem are DEAD TO ME after "Drunk Girls" and MGMTsayer are a bit too full of hipsterwank for me.
My best friend/old roommate from nj just saw phoenix a few weeks ago and he said it was one of the best shows he's ever seen in his life. And he is usually not impressed with concerts so I take that as a ringing endorsement. Personally I don't like VW in thye least and I'm not familiar enough with yeasayers stuff to really make a comment. MGMT sounds fun but their new album eats a wangpeice.
i like phoenix the most, personally, so i'm adding my vote for that.
i saw them live and it was a really fun show. HOWEVER, i would not give it the ridiculoglorious reviews that i'm seeing here. hardly the best show of my life. i thought they had some issues with timing...like, they would build you up to think it was gonna go awesomely nutso and then just go silent instead.
@Celisse - I dunno - I just feel like he's stopped being clever and has turned into ironic dumb, which I can't distinguish from actual dumb.
Also, on Rink's comment: last time I saw Phoenix, it was like it was 2 shows. One was awesome and full of hits, the rest was a bit lacklustre and mostly deep cuts from the last album. But the time before that was world-beating.
I saw MGMT live a couple of years ago, and it was OKAY but not super memorable. Vampire Weekend was very good live the same year though. That's all I got.
Jesus Lizard!!!
(Hey there, Twig)
I've heard really good things about Phoenix live, and really awful things about MGMT live.

either way, phoenix is a definite
Maybe awful is an overstatement, but I haven't heard anything good about them live and they played a pretty big show here earlier this summer.
But yeah, Phoenix for sure. Maybe pick between the rest by type of music? I'd pick LCD for danceability, personally.

What are you leaning towards?
i'm gonna say phoenix all the way on this one.
I'm leaning towards LCD Soundsystem and VW but I've posted this topic here, Twitter, Facebook, and NT and everyone is saying Phoenix so I dunno.
Only ONE person recommended yeasayer, haha. Maybe I'll budget for three shows instea of just two, but they're kind of expensive :(
Dave why do you feel so hilariously vehemently about the death of LCD? wahaahha
I lied, I forgot to post this on nt. TRUST YOU GUYS MORE.

Lcd is also cool but againn personally I only like a few songs so sitting through a whole set might be meh.
VW & LCD Soundsystem
or LCD Soundsystem & MGMT
I've seen all but one of those bands (Yeasayer, because they were playing way too early at COACHitalkaboutthiswaytoomuchELLA).

i'm also facing the mgmt dilemma, actually!
