my best friend is giving birth to a girl next month and wants to name her mia (which is my name). it's literally the only M name (it has to be an M name. it's a jewish thing, as some of you know.) that both of them like. but they won't do it if i am too 'creeped out' or have a problem with it. what do *you* think?
I don't think I would mind it if I like the people, even if I didn't like the people I think I'd like it. It was nice that they asked you first though.
well, she's my best friend, so she of course felt she had to ask me (and expected me to not like the idea), but it's weird because i'm the only mia she's ever known.
i hear you, centro, but it's not that they are really naming her *after* me. they just really like my name. and obviously they love me, but they are not choosing my name because of that. they are choosing it because they like it. and the other ones each likes, the other doesn't...
goddamned gti! it did that because i less-than-three'd you, makeart! the polar opposite of disapproving silence. in fact, i just posted your comment on my facebook thread on this topic.
and now i must sign off. getting kicked out.
thanks y'all. love to hear more opinions, please. like...how would you feel if it were you???
@slackmistress: yeah, i know, another friend brought that up last night. i mean, despite their telling me it was up to me, if i say no what will they do? then it will be my fault they didn't get to name the baby what they wanted...oy.

There's a kid out there who's named after me. I consider it an honor.
Sounds pretty cool and not at all creepy to me, personally...what is it that has you ill-at-ease?

You seem to have overlooked that this offers you the opportunity to have a mini Mia, this alone should seal the deal.
I would like it, but what matters is how you feel about it. Is it making you uncomfortable?
@catlady Should I interpret that as a disapproving silence?

Yeah, I'll tell you a creepy story sometime about how someone named their son after me, but this isn't at all like that.
I think if you're comfortable with it, no biggie. It's nice of them to ask. Although it's also weird, 'cause what if you say no?

@aartaud: uh-oh...
