She really is such a bad performer. Her awful singing is even more exaggerated during live performances. But, again, I just really like the songs. I dunno.

I feel the same way ad phro. The people I know of whom I respect their musical opinion on everything- well, they hate her and think I'm totally an idiot for even liking a few of her songs. I need deprogramming or something.

I could go into a dissertation about the haters, but it's pointless. If a song is enjoyable, it is. The end.

I listened to the album last night. And I don't think it's a bad album by any stretch. I think it's totally a forgettable album, but it's nice to listen to a couple of times. And if nothing else, I think Video Games is an enjoyable song. Very enjoyable. Also, anyone titling a song "Diet Mountain Dew" is reasonably cool, in my book.

"Video Games" is of course what made me notice LDR, cos everyone was so crazy about that song for a few weeks, but for me it is the throwaway song on that album. That, and Million Dollar Man, which I always skip over.

In my head I have been singing some crazy mash up of National Anthem, Radio, Dark Paradise, Born to Die, and This is What Makes Us Girls, because they are ALL ESSENTIALLY THE SAME SONG, but whatever. I guess the one song they are is one I really like, so that makes it ok.

If I don't see her, she doesn't bother me. I didn't know who she was until everyone kept talking about the SNL performance. I agree her songs sound the same, but I don't think she has a bad voice. She's just sooo into herself its hard to like her and her music. Her music videos all look like a 12 year old got a hold of her parents video camera and she went to go play dress up. I don't know, she looks/acts like the indie hipster Paris Hilton.

Yeah, the SNL performance was pretty awful. But (and I'm saying this as someone who hasn't and doesn't feel like listening to her album) I think it's totally fine to like music even when you know something is "wrong" with it.

Haha that's great! I've known about her for like two weeks and I'm sick of hearing about her too. Music is music, listen to what you want! It's like fighting over someone's favorite color.
