I follow you on the 'suspicious about nice' but I also make the mistake about goi.g along with the wrong person, even though the signs are obviously bad. I don't do it as often, but UG, I still do it. My most recent ex is a HUGE example. So obvious, in hindsight it's actually a bit humorous.
There are times when "predictable" feels like a safer choice. Just be careful in determining the difference between what may be familiar from what is good for you, the latter being a preferred choice when we learn to value ourselves more.
