She also called me "Twigfork" JUST because I like the new St. Vincent album but then went on and on about M83, ALSO A PITCHFORK APPROVED BAND.

i like foster the people too

i do not like st. vincent.

ok...

I like Pumped Up Kicks, which is the only Foster the People song I've ever heard.

I've never heard of St. Vincent.

Predictably.

I actually much prefer Helena Beat over Pumped up Kicks

I've never heard that song...or, I don't think so.

No, I was right. I've never heard it before.

TWIGBY WEARS DEEP V'S!

Emma Stone likes dudes in deep v's

is the new st vincent album good? i think annie clark is kind of cloying.

I like it!

its bad.

you're bad

YOU!

Yeah and what.

i just played the first five seconds of it and then gave up.

GO KIM.

DONT YOU DARE DISPARAGE EMMA STONE. she likes gingers. with beards. i've got a shot.

i dont know if i like this st vincent or not yet, but i can tell that about 15 seconds into the first song i can already tell the people in this band think they are REALLY F-ING COOL.

emma stone dated a culkin, so she gets an eternal pass in my book. culkins forever!

I can't get into the new St. Vincent but I really liked the last one.

And I still find it weird when I hear Foster the People on the top 40 station.

why they sound exactly like mgmt

Um, assuming that's directed at me even though you forgot a question mark!! But, was MGMT on top 40? I don't remember. I just know that we have the "indie" public radio station and they were playing "Pumped Up Kicks" last summer (though I'm probably off on that, but it was a LONG time ago) and then THIS summer everyone other station realizes they exist.

Y'know, the indiefication of mainstream, the mainstreaming of "indie" and those terms are all meaningless now but whatever. It's still strange to me.

yah it was directed at you =D

This is the journey of indie music on satellite radio (and then THE WORLD):

SiriusXMU plucks Band X out of obscurity from Pitchfork and/or Stereogum before they even release an EP. Play the shit out of that one song of theirs for a month. Forget about them. Resurface them after the EP is released and proceed to play every single song available. Forget about them again.

ALTNation finds out Band X exists 8-10 months after SiriusXMU and plays the shit out of that one song. AGAIN. (Please see Cults, "Go Outside.") Do not play anything else from their discography, ever.

Ever late to the party, 12-18 months after initial plucking from obscurity, Hits20 figures out Band X's existence and shoots them into the mainstream.

SiriusXM cries and removes Band X from rotation.

Heh. That's probably the same cycle as the local stations here, except we don't really have an ALTNation equivalent. I don't think, anyway. All I really know about Satellite Radio is that if I had it, I would listen to the 90s alternative station ALL THE TIME.

@erica AGREED

their name is kinda long. it's a sentence.

What should go here?
