ugh just stick with tumblr
i just started a tumblr and I'm going to be honest with you, I really like it!
uh oh Celisse! Why ugh?
It just seemed like being able to automatically post things from last.fm or stumbleupon or whatever might save the effort of doing that for my own personal good, then separately going and making a post about it
I had never even heard of Soup.io, but I'm not too keen on that sort of knockoff.
You CAN automatically post your boring shit from last.fm and stumbleupon or anything with an RSS to your Tumblr.
yeah tumblr supports all of that crap, and ugh because i just wish everyone from here (that i actually like) would bite the bullet and join tumblr already
Is that how you post your boring shit, Tiff? In case I need a hand setting it up
No, scurv, I tend to have more on my mind than trying to wow people with my pretentious listening habits.
I guess one person's "posting about songs that I enjoy" is another person's "wowing people with my pretentious listening habits," hmm?
BTW you did a good job of wowing me with your pretentious music video watching habits this morning
What is this soup place? "Soup is a tumblelog, a super-easy blog that can do more than just text: post links, quotes, videos, audio, files, reviews and events." Uhhh....what the hell is the difference? You can put this little tumblr bookmarklet thing in your toolbar.
Personally, I prefer the lack of community. If I want community, I will come post a topic here. I don't blog for comments. Then again, I don't really blog! But if I post something cool and someone wants to find me and tell me HEY COOL, then they can. I don't need it public or up for discussion.
I don't know, erica! I just didn't know that tumblr had similar functionality because I've never used it and it doesn't have an About page to tell you what it does, it just has a big signup form. soup.io has a tour that tells you about all the features and steps you through setting up and playing around with a temporary blog, so I had more info
Ethan, that's fair. I had just heard that a big feature of that style of blog was going through all the other posts and responding and etc.
i dunno, i like tumblr, its easy as pie, and the amount of stuff being posted there on a daily basis makes it interesting enough to surf through once in a while.
also phro i am still laughing about the post combo screen shot i took of you and that other one this morning. its fucking hilarious.
Actually, my Tumblr aggregates my Twitter, my Flickr, my Google Reader shared items, and my posts from here. And then I use their Javascript thing to just post it here. I don't ever use Tumblr itself. It was mostly to appease my laziness.
Ethan, I like you and all, but your tumblr sounds like the worst ever thing to follow.
@erica To be fair, he made it pretty clear that he doesn't care about the social aspect of it at all...
Hahaha, yeah, I'd never suggest following it. Especially if you follow me on any other network ever. I think I intended to make it more of a one stop shop for all things Ethan. Then I stopped caring.
Anyway, I love the social part of tumblr. I was out last night with people whom I mostly through there and they are all kinds of awesome.
^whom I met mostly through there..
