I'm thinking of giving comcast the boot as they are essentially charging for my 1st, 2nd and 3rd born. I was looking into direct tv, but there seems to be a lot of negative reviews (then again, so does everyone else) halp!

every cable company will piss you off to no end

Yeah, I'd figured as much.

also sorry i don't have much to add. CANADIAN and all

I find RCN to be a perfectly adequate alternative to Comcast. Sure, their on-demand service sucks by comparison, but that's what the internet is for.

I have the local cable provider here in Idaho, Cable One. I'm pretty neutral on them, except that I can use my Tivo HD. If I went through DirecTV or Dish Network, they would force me to use the DVR that they want me to use, so fuck them.

dish is cheaper than direct, but they were (and maybe still are) way behind direct as far as their HD satellites, if that is something that is important to you. so check the HD availability out before you decide.

HD is overrated.

Centropomus is a luddite! :D

@Jay Def Don't get me wrong, I like HD, but I'd rather spend the price difference on a faster internet connection, or food.

Yeah, I was just joking, dude.

I hate Comcast. They are awful. They essentially abandoned my neighborhood a few years ago and charged us for non-working service for three months. It wasn't even intermittent service. It flat-out did not work. Everyone here switched to Dish.

I dunno about anyone else but I love dish. We never have any problems with it, ever.

HD is worth it if you've got a decent TV. Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy with 300 dollar glasses frames.

I've done ok with Time Warner for the past few years. Not the cheapest, but there have never been any steep price hikes and I was usually behind on my bills but never got outright cut off.

we're kind of stealing cable. so if we want to see something on hbo or showtime we go to a friend's house. also, therefore internet is free.

however, i've had good luck with direct tv- except for they way they wire-up their satellite can be a bit worrisome. so like, if you don't have basic electrical engineering skills, and if you don't have a friend who does, then like, well- I might be worried. but i might be a bit nervous about fires.

however, we are "stealing" cox right now. and it seems to be good. oh yea- we're in socal, so i don't know where that all goes. Time Warner is good too- we had that in La Jolla, and it worked out great. i don't know how it compared cost-wise. we all split it up. hmmm-

STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING AT&T

What should go here?
