I bought it because my movie buff/snob friend told me it was great. I love horror/thriller movies, and I have an affinity for bad ones as well. I still kick myself for choosing that over White Chicks...
I love taking pictures in fog. I get funny looks from people when I tell them that, but then I show them my pictures.

@Garak - You are incorrect. I thought The Mist was a great movie, and so did my roommate. We rented it a couple of weeks ago. It was very good.
The cops questioned you? wtf? Are they afraid you'll crash a plane into the fog? Rob a convenience store and run off into the mist with your goodies?
