fucking a, not to get political but I am proudly deleting all the friends I have on fb that keep posting there love of our country and bashing on anyone who's against the AZ law shit. srsly, maybe I am just a moody preggo that is letting all this get to her since her son is 3rd gen mexican american/swed. I can't hang with people being so closed-minded.
dear_world_cant_we_all_just_get_along?
What should go here?
I mean, I am okay with people expressing their opinion but a friend from hs posted this link on fb
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=lf#!/pages/We-will-never-buy-one-of-your-CDs-or-listen-to-your-crappy-music-ever-again/128034100549387?ref=mf
in protest to all the bands boycotting AZ and at the end of her post she stated, "If you give a rats ass about your country's borders and the sovereignty of our nation you will share this page with everyone you know. Pass this page on to everyone or just remove me from your friends list. If you don't do this I never want to talk to you again."
so I deleted her...
no, that's a good reason to delete someone...
Yeah, that doesn't sound like somebody any rational person would want to talk to.
I totally support this.
I really like that none of my FB friends post crap like this.
Wow. That's a really weird thing to take a "with us or against us" stand. I never invite my friends to pages, causes, etc., even if they're ones I think they might like, because I know how annoying it can be to get inundated with requests. If they see it on my wall and like it, they can join. If not, no harm done.
Normally when they consistently post stuff I don't like, I just hide them from my news feed, but that's a bit ridiculous. I like how the group info points out that illegal aliens kill 23 Americans a day. 23!!! I'm pretty sure that "true" Americans kill a lot more than 23 Americans a day moron.
I frequently have the impulse to delete friends that don't share my political/social beliefs, but I think deleting is a bit of a harsh reaction.
Like Muppy said, you can hide them from your news feed or simply send them a message letting them know how you feel on the issues they've posted and let them be the ones to delete you if they're really that intolerant of differing views.
BUT, in the case of your "friend"... yeah, good call on granting her wish. Sometimes I wish there was a "swift kick to the face" button.
Oh, and this thread kinda reminded me of this quote:
“If you want to make peace, you don’t talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies.” — Moshe Dayan
I dunno exactly how this should be practiced on FB since everyone's supposedly "friends" but I do think at least attempting to get your perspective across to the other person is a good idea. It probably won't help them, and they might even get more passionate about their fucked up beliefs, but at least you can't say you weren't trying to be part of the compromise/solution/whatever.
I have tons of "conservative" friends on fb that lately have been posting all sorts of I stand with AZ stuff that haven't made me go as far as delete them. I end up posting my opinions or saying something like I did today about asking where the country is we could send naturally borned Americans that murder, steal of just live off the system forever is - SARS white people just as quilty. In the case of the girl above tho she has just gotten to the fucking over it postition on my fb page. I usually ignore people or whatever but I just didn't see the purpose she was contributing to my fb cause. She sends all of these law type fb-mail things and I just sit there and ignore them. Posted this thing about how God killed her favorite actors and just letting God know that her fave president is Obama hoping he would could kill him too - just a terrible fb friend.
I went to hs with her and I was down to be buddies but ahe is on some loney platform I just can't deal with anymore.
My hs is in a total hick town in San Diego and it sucks because many people I went to hs share these view points and I can't get it.
People like this have always existed, I suppose, but, damn they've gotten loud and strident in the last decade.
Is it just me or does it seem like there's been a resurgence in blatant xenophobia and racism since 2000? And especially since the 2008 presidential campaign?
@bustie: I have seen a rise in racisim since this whole economic down fall because jobs became scarce and that we all know people want those jobs that pay under the table below min wage. Srsly no one wants to pay 10bucks for flipping of strawberries I hate when they aren't in season and they do go up to 5 bucks for what seems a handful. But yeah - totally gonna get someone in a field all day who don't think they are "above this"
I have some conservative types on my friends list, but I usually just hide them rather than delete them. 1) I figure I'm a pesky liberal on THEIR friends list who can annoy them with my left-leaning views. 2) dude, I don't want to lose any neighbors on farmville.
Ahahahahha omg Vanessa
