his name is Jack???
my precious boy named Jack passed away last December...it's a great name for a pooch

During WWII my grandfather had a German Shepard named Jack. He wanted a purebred boxer all his life, and sadly died before ever having one...so we named our boxer after his war buddy.

The original Jack's story is really sad. He was a trained army dog, so when the war ended he had trouble readjusting to civilian life. He would constantly be agressive towards my grandmother and baby uncle. My grandfather loved that dog though, in times when meat was scarce he would make sure the dog got fed proper meat first because he needed it and people could do just as well without it. They had gone through an entire war together.

But poor old Jack took his agression too far one day and he had to be sent off to live in the village, where they kept him on a short chain tied to a stake so he wouldn't terrorize the chickens. My grandfather visited him only once -- the visit was too traumatic for both man and dog. Not used to being chained or away from my grandfather, Jack spent his days crying, whining, not eating and just all around being miserable. The villagers got fed up with him one day and just shot him, something my grandfather never forgave anyone for.

What should go here?
