Election Cell Phone Telemarketing
Dear Prop 23, Prop 19, Prop Whatever:
I'm on the National Do Not Call List. What the fuck are you calling me for?
Dear National Do Not Call Registry:
If I'm getting political spam calls, what the fuck good are you? Aren't you a law prohibiting calls like this to cell phones?
Fuck you,

Political calls were exempted from the Do Not Call list for 1st amendment reasons. The cell phone prohibition is (or at least was) a different law/regulation. I thought that political calls were still included in the cell phone prohibition, but maybe that got superseded by the Do Not Call list.
@Centropomus A lot of times a list can't tell the difference between and landline and mobile phone number, esp in cell-phone only households. Democracy sure is annoying...
@Skewgee Cell phones use different 1000-number blocks than land lines. This used to be much easier to keep track of when numbers were distributed in 10,000 number blocks, and they're only required to update their lists every 3 months, so if you have a new number, you might get miscategorized.
Of course, if you're using a forwarding service like Google Voice, they have no way to know what kind of phone is ultimately ringing.
