this is maybe naive of me, but... when it comes to online dating for men seeking women, it's still to some degree a boy-courts-girl phenomenon, right?  i get the impression that many many girls don't have time to go surfing through profiles because they're so busy fending off creepy guys and waiting for prince charming to message them.

i will also once again insist that the "see who's viewed your profile" feature is gross and everyone should turn it off immediately.

That is the general set-up, yes, but women on that site do seem to do quite a bit of messaging, or at least winking.

Let's also recall that zero percent of the OKCupid messages I have initiated have resulted in any responses at all ever.

I somehow got a handful of profile views last night, *and* I got a random response from a girl who messaged me weeks ago, so that's something. Time for me to stop complaining.

On the other hand, I messaged a girl this weekend, and instead of responding, she has switched her profile from straight to gay. I have that effect on women.

Dating sucks.

Or, more to the point, I suck at it.

It's kinda like when you try to learn to play the guitar, and after doing it for a little while, you get blisters on your fingers and your back hurts from standing/sitting in a weird position and you just can't seem to do it right, so you stop trying.
