Being an ethical consumer is harder than ever these days. Even if we're willing to be clear-eyed about where our toys come from (and clearly some of us are), we can still have the wool pulled over our eyes.

To wit: some goods are made in near-sweatshops for penny-ante wages in territories that are technically American, like the C.N.M.I. (I've seen them.) This so that they can bear the "Made in the USA" label.

The connection between morals and law can be very tenuous sometimes. I don't want to get off on a rant about corporate citizenship but I could ;)
