The first person I ever knew that did coke was a college roommate. The shock was entirely eclipsed by a sense of "...so THAT explains it." He'd cleaned up before coming to school, but in just 2 years prior, he'd fried his brain so badly that he was borderline mentally handicapped. I'm not joking either, he couldn't get into the military because of how much damage he'd done to himself.
i just the other day was reading about how nearly a third of cocaine seized in the states was laced with levasole, a livestock de-worming drug. apparently this enhances dopamine levels, but leaves the immune system severely compromised. fun stuff. seriously though, people all around you are doing hard drugs.
There is all kinds of shit in cocaine. Gasoline can be used in its production, and given that it's rarely produced in clean labs, and more likely done outside by some guy with some plastic buckets and a screen, so the chances that the stuff used in the production of cocaine is still in the cocaine is pretty high. Coke is also commonly cut with all kinds of other stuff after its production, so it's pretty unlikely that any coke user is putting a pure substance up their nose.

I think that's just a lie spewed by people who are on cocaine. But the people around you who are users might sometimes surprise you.
