My first instinct was to get a waffle maker. That way everyone profits.

Something with Marimekko!!

I had a Marimekko red umbrella, but it broke. Are you thinking housewares or linen or what?

Linens. I totally want a Marimekko duvet. But your gift card won't cover that.

In fact, when I think $100 at C&B, I think...uhh, a vase and a couple of spoons?

a barrel!

I could totally use a barrel. To keep my monkeys in.

you can use crates for those. you need a barrel to make pickles!

There are these doubly ended magnetic measuring spoons that are just awesome! You just buy them immediately!

@linty I found them on the website, but I don't get it. Why magnetized?

@om nom nom I make my pickles in mason jars. Gonna do some Middle Eastern turnip pickles this week, in fact.

Now THAT was an identifiable overheard.

Two $50 gift certificates ;)

@-j. Yeah, but I'm not that nice.
Can it be possible that they don't sell yogurt makers? I've been wanting one for a while now.

@mizsarah: in fact you are. But this one should be for you!

There are no yogurt makers on their website, at least.

mason jars don't pick up all the nice barnyard that a good barrel will. plus you can use the barrel as a table.

How do people feel about Silpat?

I used my last one so much it tore.

it's essential for baking but you should own at least 2 so you can press things.

I really do need two. But I also want bamboo cutting boards and the aforementioned waffle iron. How do I choose?

Well, waffle makers are more fun than bamboo cutting boards. What makes those cutting boards so desirable?

I was at the home and housewares show. those bamboo cutting boards are crap environmentally. think of all the fuel cost to ship them from china. yes, I'm a douche for asking. the super dense epicureans are nice functionally.

My vote goes to waffle maker. I loved making waffles with my mama growing up. I really wish she could find the cord for hers.

You know, if I had the pineapple slicer I might make my famous pineapple salsa more often.
No way am I getting the citrus ice cube tray, as jambery gave us a Space Invaders ice cube tray last chanukah, and that's infinite times more cool.

The mini burger thing would be great for my old roommate as we made those things all summer last year. YUM!

From what I understand, a pineapple slicer is a pretty great thing to have in the kitchen.

If I remember correctly, the pineapple slicer is one of the few uni-taskers that America's Test Kitchens likes. But you have to cut a lot of pineapples to justify it's existence.

@mizsarahSo you don't lose them. And it's less of a hassle than the measuring spoons on the annoying rings.

I actually got a mini-burger grill in a gift exchange a few months back, but I traded it for some coffee beans and a pack of madelines. I just don't eat that much red meat. Of course, I could always grill slices of pineapple . . .
