Cadillacs and Dinosaurs had a pulpier, more energetic feel to it, but the artwork was a bit ugly in all media.

The Dinotopia books were pretty too look at on display in the stores, but then I picked them up and saw their was a weird story to go with them. And then there was a TV miniseries I never saw.

I'm not sure there are any winners here.

Dinotopia also had an odd steam-fantasy aesthetic to it as well. Which wasn't bad, necessarily, but it muddled things, I think. Plus, making all the dinos pacifists defeated part of what's cool about dinosaurs.

I don't think we've ever quite achieved the perfect dinosaurs/humans adventure mix, honestly.

why would they RENAME all the dinosaurs in dinosaurs and cadillacs? thats dumb.

also i love dinos and have never read, watched, or played either of these.

Dinotopia all the way, my mom worked at a gallery when i was a kid that sold that guys work, he was really nice and gave me a cool ink drawing of a steam-punk bunny rabbit.

i have no idea, but geeeez, i remember reading Dinotopia verrry vaguely. haven't thought about that in years and years! neat.

@beck: I'm glad that he was nice. I couldn't tell flipping through his book how seriously he took it, like maybe he bought an island somewhere and paraded around in costume.

@emm: I had the same reaction, and I think there is something intentionally dreamlike about Dinotopia. It makes it hard to evaluate it in any real way, though.

not much can compete with that.
