The presidential race and the SNL curse

I wrote about this some time ago on Livejournal and figured I'd update it for the current presidential race. Eight former or present presidential candidates have hosted Saturday Night Live, and so far, none of these have actually won the presidency:

Ralph Nader - 1/15/77 (Green party candidate in 1996, 2000, independent candidate in 2004)
George McGovern - 4/14/84 (Democratic nominee in 1972, democratic candidate in 1984)
Jesse Jackson - 10/20/84 (Democratic candidate in 1984, 1988)
Steve Forbes - 4/13/96 (Republican candidate in 1996, 2000)
Rudy Giuliani - 11/23/97 (Republican candidate in 2008)
John McCain - 10/19/02 (Republican candidate in 2000, presumptive republican nominee in 2008)
Al Gore - 12/14/02 (Democratic candidate in 1988, democratic nominee in 2000)
Al Sharpton - 12/6/03 (Democratic candidate in 2004)

Will McCain uphold the SNL curse by losing his bid for the presidency, or become the first SNL host to win?
